ADDITIONAL NOTES TO NEW SCHUTZHUND RULES
Decisions taken during the national Training Council meeting 2004 |
The Title of SchH 1 may
be earned in 3 phases This would mean that the handler may enter a single discipline at a qualification trial (either A, B or C). After a qualifying score is obtained in each of the 3 disciplines the title SchH 1 will be awarded to the dog. A dog that has obtained SchH1 in this way may not enter SchH 2 until it has completed a SchH 1 in the conventional way (ie: all 3 disciplines passed at the same trial). Similarly a dog that has SchH 1 obtained in 3 phases may not enter a Provincial Trial , the National Protection dog Championship until the title has been earned at a single trial. This method of titling is not allowed for SchH 2 and 3. The time frame allowed is 24 months from the date of first entry. |
Paragraph 5.7 of Section 8 of the Training ordinance refers |
The use of
remote control devices, electrical shock device collars, or sharpened
spike collars is not permitted when training on club grounds.

Policy decision: |
| SchH events( where possible) will not be scheduled over two days. In future BH and SchH events may also be scheduled for the same day. Participants may however only partake in one event per day. For events to be held over 2 days motivating factors such as weather conditions ,number of entries etc will be taken into consideration. |

New SchH Rules |
Section dealing with the “Calling the dog
from the hide”: In SchH 1 only: The handler may either call the dog from the hide to the heel position (approx. 5 paces from the hide) or may, on the judges signal, approach the dog and take up a Basic position next to the dog and then free heel the dog to the position 5 paces from the hide. Both options will be judged equally by the judge. From discussions and ruling taken at the recent WUSV meeting (11 October 2004): The following commands must be used when calling the dog from the hide (applicable to SchH 1/2/3): “hier-fuss” (Hier in conjunction with Fuss) as per the rule book. Previously the interpretation was that either “Hier” or “Fuss” (ie a single command was to be used.) This has been updated and now accepted that both commands must be used for maximum score on that exercise to be awarded
